Visual Editor & Toast Notification Comes to WordPress App for Windows Phone
Finally after an extraordinary wait, Visual Editor has been rolled to WordPress App for Windows Phone. Even though WordPress touts this as minor update, it’s a major update as per me. I had used WordPress App on Blackberry long time back and I know the kind of pain I went through writing blog posts on that.
When you hit the New Post option the app opens in the Text Editor mode. You will have to specifically launch the Visual editor. When you do launch, it gives you the same kind of feeling which you get in the Full Screen editor of WordPress Browser version. This makes it very easy to type in as there are no distractions.

Options available with Visual Editor:
- Menu Bar has option for Link, Bold, Italic and Quote texts. When you choose to insert a link, you get another pop-up where you can enter link, text and save it.
- As you expand the menu bar you will see options for Order List, Unordered List, Add More, Strike and Discard Changes.
That Said, I found a couple of bugs already in the app. As an example my favourite feature — Insert Link does not work , Discard changes have its own issue and you cannot use landscape mode. I am guessing that this will get fixed in the next update.
What is noticeable here is that there is no visual uploader for Images yet in Visual Editor. It just works with text and if you need to add images, you will have to use the text heavy editor.
Toast Notifications
When I first launched the app, after the update, the app asked for my permission to send for Push Notifications as well and it specifically said that I need to pin the app to start screen to receive notification for it. There is an option in the settings if you want to opt out of it. Not sure what exactly it is for but I am guessing it should be for comments or if there is anything waiting for my approval or in spam.
Thanks @TheRomit to confirm on this.
