Missed VLC Beta ? Here is How to Install without it

VLC Beta invites ran out of maximum invites that Windows Phone store has to offer which resulted in lot of people left out. While you cannot blame VLC team, but Windows Blog Italia posted about an alternate way to get it running on Windows Phone. The only catch is that its an external installation, and you won’t get updates.

The process involves installation of VLC Beta XAP file directly on phone. What you need is to unlock your phone which is fairly easy process.  You will need to download the Windows Phone SDK 8.1, go through developer registration through app studio,  and use the deployment kit to install the XAP file.

  • After installing the SDK 8.1, connect your phone to your PC via USB cable.
