While it was being development but the team behind VideoLAN decided to to make it even better by developing it for ARM devices like Microsoft Surface and Windows Phone. Thomas Nigro, VLC developer for Windows Modern tweeted few hours back that they have hit a milestone.

Yeah! VLC is finally working on ARM devices like Surface RT and windows phone! You should thank @beauzeh who did a really huge work!!

Hugo Beauzée-Luyssen, another developer behind VLC, posted a picture of VLC playing a video on Surface 2 which oncretes the claim.

VLC on Surface 2

Looking at their tweets, it seems the product is mostly done, and they might be fixing out bugs. While there is no information about its beta testing, most of us would definitely love it. Specially the community here with Windows Phone.

Windows Phone as of now has one media player that gets closer to VLC and that is Moli Player. Even though its a paid app, the player has huge demand and support from Nokia China to get access to the API which many did not had.

Lets hope the app rolls out soon and we get to test and play all our MKV files right on Windows Phone.
