What’s New in Alarm Clock for Windows 10 Preview for Phone

Looks like it’s not just the setting that has major upgrade, Alarms app has got really useful with new features and enhancements. While in Windows 8.1 it is purely an alarm clock, Windows 10 Preview includes the following new entries.

  • World Clock
  • Timer
  • Stopwatch
  • and the regular alarm.

This is how the Android Alarm is designed, and instead od swiping, you actually tap to switch. A shift from the metro design which Microsoft used to implement. Now lets take a closer look at each of them.

Alarm Clock in Windows 10 for Phone

World Clock:

Here you can have multiple clocks listed i.e. if you need to track time of multiple cities, just add them by name.  If they are very important for you, pin each of these clocks to start screen with a long press. All these time zones can be deleted using the option from the menu bar.

Now here comes the best part. It also allows you compare time between two-time zones, if they are added to the click list.

  • Hit the compare button, then select the city against which you want to compare others.
  • Next step is to manually enter the time for the selected city and it will display the time for other cities.

This is useful if you have an event in US and you would want to know the time in your country.

Timers and Smartwatch

They are like regular ones, but makes sure that you can start, pause and reset them without leaving the screen. The Stopwatch has a share feature which is now disabled. This is interesting.

Alarm Clock:

While nothing is new here compared to Windows Phone 8.1, the new design looks good. You can have multiple alarms with option on what day they should wake you up.

A common feature of all the sections is that you pin them to Start Screen. You can pin clocks, stopwatch and timer to starts screen for quick look.
