WhatsApp for Windows Phone Finally Updated

WhatsApp for Windows Phone has been finally updated with bug fixes and new features. There have been many complaints regarding the issues in WhatsApp for Windows Phone since its major release a few months back. So in case you are a pro user of WhatsApp, check for the update in the Windows Phone store and get the app updated with new features and improvements.

Some of the notable changes include;

  • Initiate voice calls from within the app
  • Background API allows you to play music.
  • New smileys
  • Fixed notifications for users
  • Users can now see smileys on the double-wide tile
  • Fast resume

One of the major problems with Whatsapp on Windows Phone was getting messages after notification was received. It kept on loading for ages. Another problem was messages were delayed a lot compared to one on Android and iOS. We are really hoping that these issues have been resolved. I will keep you all posted on this.

Now there is a background agent which makes sure to get the updates even when the app is not running. Whatsapp used to rely on AUDIO API to keep running itself, which was the cause of battery drain. The Fast resume is supposed to ensure that when you tap the notification, the app launches instantly instead of a complete re-launch of the app, which was slow.
