Screenshot : WhatsApp to give Option to Disable Read Receipts (Blue Check Marks)
WhatsApp, the most popular texting service will soon gives users a control to disable “Read Time & Date” for messages that reaches them. Last week this “Blue Check Marks” features was rolled in which allowed anybody to know if their sent message was read. This even works in group.
This feature was warmly welcomed, but seems this now has become more of a privacy concern than anything else. According to a beta tester, Ilhan Pektas, shared a screenshot with Tim Vüllers., there an option to the users as “Disable/Enabled Read Receipts”
It clearly says that “If you turn off read receipts, you wont be able to see read receipts from other people”. This means, if you disable read receipts from my side, you wont see others read receipts as well. I guess that’s fair enough.
The screenshot above is for Android, but we expect it to be rolled out for all the platforms including. Windows Phone. We will keep you posted on this.
