Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update Now Rolling Out
As promised, Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 10 Anniversary Update for Windows 10 Mobile exactly in 2 weeks post Windows 10 for PC. The update should be live in most of the regions by now, but since it is phased out, make sure not to bite your nails. If you want to check if you have an update, go to Settings > Update and Recovery > Phone Update and hit that lovely button to make it to take to the Microsoft servers.

A tweet from Dona, the head of the Insiders programme:

If you have never been on the Insiders Programme, a lot has changed since Windows 10 Mobile was initially rolled out. While it has gotten faster compared to last years version, the OS is still rather slow on devices like the Lumia 550, which my dad uses, and he is not even a heavy user. So in terms of performance, it will be strictly vary from device to device, because I still it doing well on my Lumia 950 XL.
So are you going to get this update, well we have a list you can tally with. List of Windows 10 Mobile devices compatible with Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update:
- BLU Win HD 1 GB series.
- Lumia 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 550, 63X with 1 GB series, 640, 640 XL, 650,
- Lumia 730, 735, 830, 930, 950, 950 XL, 1520
** We could be missing a few, let us know in the comments. Thanks!
What happens to the older devices ?
Yeah, S4 based devices released in 2012-13 and most of them got updated to Threshold using the Windows Insiders Program. They are going to stay right there. Might get some bug fixes, but nothing more than that. It feels bad, but thats a standard.
That said, I am going to check out how well it performs in few days on my Dad’s Lumia 550, and on my Lumia 950, and post a review of how exactly it is doing. So what this space.
