Windows 10 Mobile Camera gets Panorama Mode

Finally after a long wait, Windows 10 Mobile users can now take panorama shots using the native camera app. Panorama mode was available for Windows Phone 8.1 users through the “Lenses”, but that’s baked into the app, and its better. As of now the update is available to Redstone users on Fast Ring Insiders, and but this is coming to all Windows 10 Mobile users with Anniversary update which is due on August 2nd.

When you update the camera app, and launch, you will notice a third option for panorama along with video, and image. Tap and start shooting by following the direction bar which guides to get the best panorama. It typically does it from left to right with instructions to tilt up or tilt right based on how stable your hands are. Also if you stop, you will be reminded to move right.

After shooting a panorama I noticed that the total size was around 1.6 MB on my Lumia 950 XL with resolution of 8330 X 1692, but it may differ from device to device. One done you will be able to share it like any other photos. The experience might look like video recording because of the button, and in reality they are small clips and that is ultimately converted into a picture.  The Panorama shots are  captured with the phone only  in portrait mode which is more natural.
