Windows 10 Mobile Insiders Get Configuration Update; Prepare for Redstone

Looks like Microsoft is going to roll out Redstone, as promised for new devices, and the recent announced by Insider chief Gabriel Aul points to that, indirectly. The update that is rolling out now is only to improve client side update experience, and prepare device for next cumulative update. Aul said:

Today we are rolling out a Configuration Update to the Windows 10 Mobile Insider devices in the Fast ring. This update prepares devices to receive the next cumulative updates, as well as improvements to the client-side update experience. There are no noticeable changes immediately after installing this Configuration Update.

This update is available for Fast Ring users, and you should soon start looking at the notification. Surprisingly the update is rather very small which makes me really thing what is the update about. I am guessing that this update will separate Windows 10 Mobile devices from Windows Phone 8.1 devices which are on the insiders.

This means, it is possible that most of the Windows Phone 8.1 devices will be stuck at TH2, and might not get Redstone at all or few features aka, this update opens new channel for Windows 10 Mobile devices like the lamia 950 XL, Lumia 950 and Lumia 550 only.

Coming to the client side update, this is much needed with so many complaints of 0% download stuck for hours. I still remember Lumia 550 took over 2 hrs to download its first update, and it was not even on insiders.
