Windows 10 Mobile Upgrade to Begin in Early 2016

While we all expected Microsoft to roll out Windows 10 Mobile update in November, be prepared fro yet another disappointment. According to an Microsoft Spokesperson, its coming in Early 2016 which means it could be anywhere between January to March. The over the air update for existing Windows Phone 8.1 users, seems to be taking lot more time.Windows 10 Mobile UpgradeHe said :

This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones.

So which devices are on the priority list? We have talked about it before, and so here it is again: Lumia 930, 830, 730 (735), 640, 640 XL, 535, 532, 435.  These are the new devices which was launched with promise of upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, though Microsoft has said multiple number of times that any Windows device running Windows Phone 8.1 will get an upgrade. This was also confirmed by a Telecom who has major presence in Spain and Latin America.

I am very disappointed right now. This is taking way too much of time. Microsoft is going in a right direction with their universal platform strategy, they have flagship devices now, but their major consumer base is still stuck on Windows Phone 8.1. Imagine if they are stuck on that for long, it will be non surprise to see them leaving.

While Microsoft is trying to bypass the carries, and they did that with Windows 10 Mobile update, but we are talking about Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile upgrade, and its going to be a huge challenge.
