Windows 10 PC in future, will get similar OneDrive Backup Integration as we have today in Windows 10 Mobile. One of the builds in the wild show OneDrive Backup option available under Settings > Backup. It offers to back up Photos, Text, Settings like Start Screen Layout, accounts, and passwords. You will also have option to manually initiate the backup, and turn on automatic backup. This feature is expected to show up for Fast Ring users when build 14278 is rolled out.
The biggest advantage of this option will be restoring the screen layout, and app installs. In case you had no choice but to reset your PC, you will not lose your tile arrangement, and PC options. This is something I totally love in Windows 10 Mobile.
Thurrott who first reported this mentions, that one feature that is missing right now is duplicating drive content to OneDrive completely. He also mentions that if this feature comes to Windows 10 PC, it should be offered to 365 users only else everybody will take their PC literally to the cloud. It’s not long when Microsoft pulled the plug from unlimited storage for all Windows 10 / Windows Phone 8.1 users.
If Microsoft enabled full drive back for Windows 10 PC, I am pretty sure a lot of users would sign up for Office 365 as it will be seamless backup to the cloud, and their data becomes available from any PC or even from Windows 10 Mobile.
