More updates after Windows Phone 7.8 refresh, Supported for 18 Months

Though Nokia is getting late at pretty much everything but they do have great plans for Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 7 users to bring in even more updates after the 7.8 refresh update which was announced for all Windows Phone sometimes back.

According to the slide leaked, Nokia is planning for 7.X update right after 7.8 Refresh update which in my opinion will be major tweaks which will help 7.8 users get some features which could be only available to Windows Phone 8 users. Remember these wont be just app updates but an OS level update because Nokia Extras in the slide points to some of the apps like Camera Extras which Nokia delivered few months back.

That’s for sure not everything will be imported but Nokia will be trying to bridge the gap to a good level. If you already have a Lumia, you must be aware of apps like Contact transfer which allowed to send contacts detail over bluetooth.

However looking at the other updates by Windows Phone Russia, on twitter, it seems the next update is not just Nokia exclusive but will be rolled out for all the Windows Phones like HTC Radar etc. If you check the conversation here, Windows Phone 7.8 will be supported for 18 months. This duration is the same duration for which Microsoft has committed for Windows Phone 8 where carrier will have no control on update and it will be rolled out by Microsoft directly.

If these updates are correct, Nokia Lumia low-end phones will have major advantage because Lumia 610 and specially Lumia 510 had been selling pretty good in India and users getting these phones will be happy to get more updates.
