Windows Phone 8.1 Notifications will be Phone Only
Action Center is not 100% confirmed to show up with the next update of Windows Phone 8 aka BLUE, but one thing seems to be clear now. Your notifications on device will not show up anywhere else i.e. on Windows 8 or Xbox One, if I have to push it a bit.
As per the screenshot of the dev doc shared by @AngelWZR it clearly says that Action Center is available only on Phone. While Microsoft might have completely skipped this but having a mention also points to the fact we might see some sort of integration coming in near future.
Also to all our Notification Center frenzy users on Windows Phone 8. The new Action Center in next update is strong enough to support 20 notifications on per app basis which can last up to 7 days on your phone unless you remove one or all of them using the clear action.
The developers can take advantage of the Notification API which will allow them to:
- Remove one or many notifications
- Tag or group notifications
- Replace a notification with a new one -Set an expiration on notifications
- Send “Ghost Toast” notifications (only show up in the notification center)
The last one could be useful to test features or even become creative to show up something new. That said, Action Center was leaked few days ago which along with notifications will also house quick toggle switches for settings like Bluetooth, WiFi along with other settings.
