Windows Phone 8.1 Rollout Starts Today

After announcing the Windows Phone 8.1 at the BUILD conference and also releasing the developer preview after few weeks, Nokia is all set to release the Cyan update which will include the Windows Phone 8.1 update. The new update will bring lots of new features including notifications center (WP8.1) and also support for VPN and other improvement.

The Cyan update includes a motion data app that collects data for fitness apps like Bing Health & Fitness or Active Fitness (already available on Lumia 630). It also includes Bluetooth 4.0 low-energy support, miracast options, and improvements to the camera algorithms for the Lumia Icon, Lumia 1520, and Lumia 930 for improved low-light performance, better color reproduction, and auto-focus improvements.

The Lumia Cyan update will also improve the already useful tools like Nokia Camera, Creative Studio and Storyteller. Nokia Camera gets a simplified user interface with one-tap access to edit and share pictures, and full-resolution zooming, re-framing and Creative Studio 6 (CS6) are available directly from the renewed Camera Roll.

People in US can get the personal assistant Cortana on their Windows Phone 8.1 devices with this update.

The Lumia Cyan update will start rolling out around the world today and will be available for all Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices in the coming weeks.
