Windows Phone 8.1 USB Settings & Navigation Bar

There are few features in Windows Phone 8.1 beta which I haven’t still found but only know. So when I got my hands on the Lumia 630 I found couple of new ones which I thought you would be interested in.

USB Settings :

In Windows Phone 8.1 a new settings is introduced – USB—which allows you to decide on what happens when you connect your phone with your PC over USB.

Usually, the PC detects it, and open its in explorer so you can manage files inside it. Using this new settings now you can ask the phone to prompt you if you want to connect Only in Charging Mode or if you want to USB mode to be turned on.

Windows Phone 8.1 can also detect if the charge you are using is slow.

Navigation Bar:

Sooner or later, all the Windows Phoned devices will have soft buttons instead of capacitive buttons. The Lumia 630 is the first and this navigation bar settings allows you to control how it appears. There are three settings:

  • Always dark
  • Match background
  • Match accent color.

The last setting makes it look more dominant.

To all those who expected OTG support, sorry folks it doesn’t seem to be coming at least in this update. Hopefully next update might have it. Keeping our fingers crossed.
