Windows Phone in India : The Wait is Finally Over
Windows Phone is rolling out in India from October with HTC in October, Samsung, Acer in November, and Nokia next year Q1. I hope the Windows Phone Market Place will also open in Zune soon, and it is accessible via Windows Phone as of now in India.
If nothing else, Nokia has made many people wait to bring Windows Phone to India, especially because there was no other option except HTC last year, which has inferior battery life ( as heard from Friends ). Even though Samsung did launch, we are still waiting for any confirmation official news.
According to Economic Times, Nokia India managing director D Shivakumar said that Windows Phone by Nokia is set to launch in the First Quarter. He said “WOULD,” which means there is a calendar year set for it.
“Work for the Windows phone is on track, and it would be launched in the first quarter of next (calendar) year.”
Luckily one of my friend in India, Abhishek Baxi ( A die-hard fan of Windows Phone and runs popular Windows Phone Blog @ILPWin ), has been invited to a press event for the announcement of Windows Phone is covering Live Event today, and till now, here is what he says :
- HTC Radar available next week.
- Samsung Omnia W and Acer Allegro In November.
- HTC Radar priced at Rs 23,990
- All Windows Phone to come with 7.5 Mango Update
- Analysts say that by 2015, Windows Phone will be the No.2 smartphone platform. I think we’ll be disappointed with No.2.” – Vikas Arora.
PS: I will link to more of Baxi’s Post when he puts up. All credit of stuff here goes to him.
