While Nokia Lumia phones may be coming pre-installed with Nokia Maps which offer a full sat-nav experience right on your phone, owners of other OEMs WP phones are not so lucky. They still have to do with the basic Bing Maps application that their phone shipped with.
Thankfully, Microsoft or more specifically Bing and Nokia have worked together to bring better traffic coverage to Maps on WP. The traffic data will be available for selected cities including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, and a bunch of other countries. The full list of countries can be found here.
To see the traffic details, You will need to launch the Bing Maps on your Windows Phone ( Search > Local Scout ) and select Traffic Details from the menu.
- Green roads are clear
- Yellow and orange roads are congested.
- Black roads are closed.
Owners of Windows Phone in any of these countries will soon be able to get traffic details right from their phone in the coming few weeks. Like said above, not all cities are covered and most probably only major cities should be covered. For example in India, Only Delhi and Banglore are covered.
