Windows Phone Voice Assistant Cortana Screenshots
Ever since Siri was introduced on Apple iPhone, every other mobile OS has been working on something similar to this. Google has now developed its Google Now into a good personal assistant on Android. Microsoft has been working on a similar voice assistant for Windows Phone and the rumored name for this is Cortana. We now have screenshots of Cortana in action on Windows Phone 8.1
The Verge has got a hands on with the voice assistant and here are some screenshots of the same. Cortana will be replacing the built-in Bing search functionality on Windows Phone 8.1.
As you can see from the screenshot you can simply speak to search or use the textbox to type. You can set your name to be addressed by Cortana when you are asking questions or use default nick names. This can be configured from the settings. There is also option to track flights and other things mentioned in your email.
Another important feature of Cortana is its ability to save information and data in a Notebook system. Notebook will allow the Cortana digital assistant to access information such as location data, personal information, reminders, and contact information. Cortana will be backed by data from services like Bing, Foursquare, and others to give it some of the contextual power of Google Now.
As of now Microsoft is using Cortana as the name but there is no confirmation on whether this will be the final name of the assistant when Microsoft will demo it in BUILD later this April. They will also released the developer preview of Windows Phone 8.1.
