WP hack lets you use any size of Audio as Ringtone, Alert and Alarm

Microsoft has this limitation of 39 seconds audio that can be used with Ringtones, alerts and alarm which is right  to an extent but then again there are people who would love to get up with a full rockon music and would love to listen to a love song everytime their phone rings in.

So thanks to  its now possible to set a song as tone using the WP7 Root Tools over an unlocked windows phone. Follow the steps :

  • First copy/paste your favorite(s) music(s) to \windows folder. For doing this I will suggest you to use Windows Phone Device Manager tool
Transfer to Windows Phone
  • Using the WP7 Root Tools go [HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/
    • OEMNotifications  ( for Alerts )
    • OEMAlarms  ( for Alarms )
    • OEMRingtones ]  (  For ringtones  as Alarms )
Registry Settings for Alerts
  • In  these 3 folders add “new value” and then :
    • Value Name: name.mp3 or name.wav or name.wma << name=name of your audio file that pasted in WINDOWS folder.
    • Value Data: enter a name for your audio that you want be shown.
    • Value Type: String
  • Once done , go to Settings > Ringtones and see if it works for you.
