If you are kind of person who contributes to Game Mods, Xbox might be finally thinking to bring it officially to the platform. According to a job listing on Microsoft’s website, Xbox is looking for a Senior Program Manager to “drive support on Xbox Live for game mods”. Well almost official! Here is what the Job description say in more detail:
“Team Xbox is looking for you to drive support on Xbox Live for game mods. You will have a unique opportunity to shape and bring to market a new set of services, tools and experiences allowing game developers to easily integrate mods into their games, communities of passionate fans to create and share awesome and engaging content for the games they love, while keeping everyone on the network safe from abusive content.”
Some of the games like Skyrim, Fallout 4, do take in community mods into their platform, but then it’s not something official, and its done based on how much people love it. However, if this becomes official, we should a lot coming from the community, and also help the platform in long terms.
Particularly for Skylines, Xbox News announced this before:
Tomorrow, February 20, we’re finally adding that feature to the game – and several more that our players have created for Cities: Skylines – Xbox One Edition. We’re proud to announce the arrival of user-created mods to our favorite city-building game, available this week as free content for all players! If you’ve ever wanted to give your community a fancy clock tower, or put in some swimming pools, or even turn the planes at your local airport into futuristic spacecraft, your fellow Cities fans have been hard at work to let you do just that.
That said, it’s going to take a lot of time, and Microsoft might play it very safe. So hold on to your mods!
