Xbox One Family, Project Scorpio to get Mixed Reality on 2018
Since Windows 10 grabbed some momentum, and Microsoft made a promise to get VR on every Windows 10 device which many will be able to buy, the push for hardware is constant. Not only we did get to see VR headset (prototype) from many OEM, but one of the recent updates to Creators Update Insiders Build now have a dedicated section for VR like Games. It was first named as Holographic but was changed to Mixed Reality.
Today, Microsoft has announced Windows Mixed Reality Development Editon for those who want to get on board. Now only VR will get on to Windows 10, but it’s coming to Xbox One Family as well. Microsoft has clear plans to bring mixed reality content to the Xbox One family of devices, including Project Scorpio, in 2018.
VR and Windows 10 together has a huge opportunity when it comes to gaming. Keeping this fact in mind, game developers can start building content for it by signing up for ID@Xbox. More about Windows Mixed Reality program here. This is really important for Microsoft that it pushes VR and Gaming right from Day One, instead of revisiting when it’s too late.
The specifications for the Acer Windows Mixed Reality Development Edition headset include:
- Two high-resolution liquid crystal displays at 1440 x 1440
- Display refresh rate up to 90 Hz (native)
